Tallow is truly an all over balm and works wonder anywhere on the body. Our balms and sticks are toxin free, deeply nourishing and good enough to eat so lather yourself in love. Your skin will thank you.

Our products are handmade on the Fierce farm in Somerset, England. Tallow is natural and can harden in cooler temperatures and get softer and more creamy when warmer. If your balm feels hard, rub it in your hands and it will melt into your skin s usual.

Our tallow-based product may soften or become grainy due to temperature changes, which is normal during different seasons. To restore its optimal consistency, gently reheat in a pan on low heat, pour back into the tin, and refrigerate for atleast 15 minutes and this will restore to its original consistency.

Absolutely. It is nourishing for babies skin, including nappy rash and eczema prone skin. It also works wonders on dry patches, feeding your child’s skin without any toxic load.

The tallow we use is from our sister brand, Ossa and is from pasture raised organic cattle in Bedfordshire. It is 100% natural and isn’t bleached or deodorised but has a clean creamy smell. As with any natural product there are so many factors that affect each batch of balm we make - meaning, although we follow specific recipes and methods every time and strive for consistency, the natural nature of the product will always shift. This can depend on the time of year, the grass the cattle have been grazing, the temperature when it was made, the temperature it is stored at etc. Our tallow has a low odour however it is beef fat so do expect a slight creamy scent. If you are concerned about the smell, our sweet orange, vanilla and luxe range adds a beautiful scent. If you have purchased an unscented balm and the smell is really not for you (people have differing sensitives to smell) then you can safely add a few drops of your favourite skin friendly essential oil (patch test)

Very occasionally there may be some texture variation in our balms - even within the same batch! This is understandable as we refuse to put anything synthetic in our products. As with any natural product there are so many factors that affect each batch of balm we make - meaning, although we follow specific recipes and strive for consistency, the natural nature of the product will always shift. This can depend on the time of year, the grass the cattle have been grazing, the temperature when it was made, the temperature your balm is stored at etc. It can even happen half way through an unfinished tin in your bathroom! Tallow is a little like a jar of raw honey – depending on where it’s stored or what the weather is doing it can form small fat crystals making it feel more grainy. It doesn’t happen very often and there seems to be no particular reason for it. It mainly occurs when the balm has been through significant temperature change. This is perfectly natural and these little grains will melt into your skin and that beef fat is still doing it nourishing job. To get it back to a smoother consistency you can always carefully re-melt and pour back into the tin.

We follow the same specific recipes and methods for all our products and only use 100% natural ingredients which, of course, can change with the seasons. We steep our olive oil whip base with an exact amount of pure ground vanilla pods for 3 weeks but there can be slightly differing results in the strength of smell. Each batch of vanilla bean will naturally be slightly different and can result in a subtle sweet cake like smell to a full vanilla ice cream scent. Rest assured, however strong the smell, the beautiful natural properties of the vanilla are doing their magical work on your skin. It must also be noted that if you are used to synthetic vanilla scents you will find our vanilla balm is a much more natural, subtle scent. The reason we use only the beans/pods and not vanilla extract is because extract often contain alcohol and other filler ingredients.

Our Baby Balm is made by infusing our tallow and jojoba oil base with organic dried camomile and calendula, using natural herbs will always result in our products having slight smell variations as each batch of herbs will be different. Camomile can have quite a strong herbal, almost fruity smell. That’s the beauty of using natural products.

Our wound balm is a salve rather than a soft balm. It contains beeswax which will make it harder in consistency, especially during the colder months. When you wound balm arrives, it will have been in a colder environment so once it’s been in a warm home it should soften slightly.

Our skin takes around 1 month to fully regenerate its skin cells. So please bear in mind that during this month your skin will be getting used to a new product and possibly releasing toxins from your skin as it acclimatises to a new toxic free product. Your skin will need time to adjust to a new product.

In the winter months, the organic rosehip oil that we purchase is always darker red in colour, it’s a seasonal variation and will usually be lighter again come spring. There is no colour transference onto your skin and it’s the same luxurious oil with the same beautiful properties. It can sometimes make the balm feel slightly grainier in the colder months – this is just the fat particles setting at different temperatures. Specifically formulated for muscle aches and also supports relaxation and better sleep. However, it is not suitable for use on the face, as it can feel stingy on sensitive skin, especially for those who haven’t used magnesium products before. We recommend doing a patch test before first use to ensure your skin tolerates it well. Additionally, avoid contact with the eyes, as it may cause irritation.
